Instant Pizza Crust Recipe
Carrying on from last week's meal plan,
I was very much looking forward to our leftovers pizza meal night.
This was the night I was going to use
the week's leftovers as a topping for our pizzas
I had some roast chicken, brisket, a sausage and roast veg. All made fine toppings!
I confess, I was close to asking Michael to bring home some pizza bases, however, I didn't! And I'm so glad as I was reminded once again how delicious, quick and easy this pizza base recipe is.
It uses bicarb instead of yeast, and can be whizzed up in the food processor.
Pizza purists may be struggling right now, however, it's crispy and it's almost biscuit like, base does remind me of my Nonna's simple peasant pastry.
So with Prince booming, (sorry Nonna), out of the speaker, gosh, I haven't listened to Prince is ages! Oh raspberry beret!
I had an absolute ball making our Friday night pizzas.
And so for you my dear, here is the pizza base recipe I make when I don't have time for yeast, as I always have bicarb!

1/2 teaspoon bicarb

Bicarb Pizza Dough Recipe
Ingredients
250g plain flour
1/2 teaspoon bicarb
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon of olive oil
170ml of milk of choice, plant milk, buttermilk are ace
Make buttermilk like this
1 cup (250ml) full cream milk
1 tablespoon white vinegar or lemon juice
Step 1
Place the milk and lemon juice or vinegar in a jug. Stir well to combine.
Step 2
Allow the mix to stand for five minutes or until the milk looks slightly lumpy and curdled.
Method
Combine all ingredients in the food processor until a ball appears, Take out and knead, adding more flour or liquid to get the desired pizza dough, not sticky and able to be kneaded and rolled into pizza bases with ease. You can leave the dough covered for 30 minutes if you like, however it is not a sticking point (pun!).
This quantity should make 2 x 24xm pizzas. Brush with olive oil and your topping of choice. Cook in a very hot even, 250 degrees Celsius, preferably on a hot stone. A lined or floured baking tray is ok too. Check until crisp and your pizza is ready!
