WEEK #76 WHAT I DIDN'T EXPECT
Hello you bundle of love!
This time next week and it will be Valentines Day ❤️❤️❤️
And who does Fill Good choose for their Valentine's Love? We choose our Fresh Producers!
I'm getting early this week, with Valentine's day, isn't it just so lovely to have something to plan and look forward to?
Let me tell you a love story you are part of!
One Saturday, weary yet full hearted from the weekend's markets, I received a call from Jordan from Everlasting Farm.
We chatted about Jordan's dreams for Everlasting Farm and mine for Fill Good, and they both just came together to answer what your dreams too were made of too!
Local, organic, affordable plastic free food with online convenience. And voila, love was is the air and Friday Fresh took off. Jordan planted and planned and spread the word to our other local farming rockstars, Silvertine, Timbarra, Muddy Creek and Gooligutch farm and together they are supplying Friday Fresh for you all.
Like all great love stories, there was adversity to overcome, so much so, that in our first 3 weeks we have had storms and extreme heat that our Friday Fresh launched into, This did not stop our farming legends as they harvested in these conditions and still had your veg to you within 24 hours, from land to you. Often within 12 hours. And our creative ways to keep all the dry goods dry in paper! We've tweaked and found the solution. talk about being thrown in the deep end!
Jordan, Bronte, Chris, Helen, Josh, Tobias, Ryan and Simon all have a common quality I have noticed. It's in their eyes and conversation that I cannot give a name to. There is quiet strength, humility, and intelligence. I believe this comes from a deep love and connection with their land and intention to feed and nourish us all. They do get a kick thinking of all the bodies that thrive from their offerings.
This dear one is where your Friday Fresh coms from. The combined love and toil of our local farmers caring for theirs and ultimately our land. Our money goes directly back to them and a beautiful love story takes place with this vibrant, rich and strong relationship. For our hearts, bodies and land to thrive.
So what did I not expect?
We are part of magic every single day here at Fill Good with you all, and being in such connection with our farmers and producers and receiving your orders and notes of appreciation, the magnificent privilege and degree of this I truly did not expect.
Happy days indeed!
Below Michael was inspired with our own Friday Fresh order this week to make up this arrangement and photograph it. What a palette hey?
THE LOCAL PRODUCER LOVE JUST GOT BIGGER
BRUMFIELD FRESH BREAD
Anda's is sweet and warm and a true artisan with her bread making. She also has me in side-splitting stitches with her twinkling eyes and humour as she gives me the best of hugs. This Anda magic I taste with every bite of Frog and Toad bread.
Each loaf Anda watches carefully as a mother would a child, as Anda ferments her bread for 3 to 5 days, to get the best possible result for our digestion and flavour. She knows what to look out for and sets her alarm accordingly whether it be 11pm, 3am or 5am! She knows when to rise and bake her bread.
Anda's Frog and Duck Bread is baked within her winery where Anda and David make their organic wine and cider from their own fields. A very small scale operation and the perfect size to manage and to take care of personally, not a large scale operation, just right to care for their locals. All of us!
It is with such pure delight I offer you Frog and Ducks;
- White Wheat Batard Loaf
- Spelt White Loaf
- Wholemeal Beer Bread
ORDERS FOR FROG AND TOAD BREAD NEED TO BE IN MY 9AM TUESDAY FOR THE NEXT FRIDAY FRESH SCHEDULE. SHOULD YOU MISS THE CUT OFF TIME, EASY PEASY AND POP AN ORDER THROUGH FOR THE FOLLOWING FRIDAY FRESH :)
Their small batch ferments are hand made in McMahon's Creek with locally sourced organic ingredients, the freshness and quality is stunning!
No more soggy, bland ferments. Crunch, zing and a flavour hit is where Cultured Harvest stands out from the rest.
If you LOVE ferments, this will be the best you have ever had, hands down and if you are a newbie, this is the best way forward to introduce all the gut health ferments can offer.
Talking about gut and brain connection, while I was working at my computer and getting my afternoon nod off, I tucked straight into my jar of Crodito today, and HELLO it woke me up beautifully. I was totally invigorated with flavour and clean food energy. Food is medicine, love and all of the above.
Cultured Harvest Sauerkraut is easy going like Sunday morning, sweet and light! Their Beetroot and Ginger brings some sweetness and warmth. Crodito starts to ramp up the tangy spice and KIMCHI is the King with the chilli, apple, ginger warming flavour hit.
Check out our share platter below with our KIMCHI around our Stone and Crow Night Walker cheese. Ferments are sensational with cheeses, meats, fats and oils.
Have you noticed there is both health and flavour?!
This is your little reminder and invitation to have some fun for Valentine's day coming up. I figure life is worth celebrating for any and every reason. So let's have some delicious fun!
Sending love and cheer for your week ahead
Chris and the Fill Good Fam!
