Week 2 Preparation Before Winter

Making my magnesium oil in seconds, wearing my pjs
Hello my gorgeous darling

I really enjoyed last week as I kicked off the harvesting of our summer vitality.
It feels so good to be relishing this time of year. I'm enjoying feeling loved up, tending to myself, and the family kind of vibe.

Traditionally, it was believed that winter illness entered into the body through exhaustion and lowered vitality.
It feels true, doesn't it?

This is why I started off last week with good sleep.
Magnesium hugely supports me with this.

Did you get a chance to make the magnesium oil in last week's newsletter?

There was a whole bunch of us that did, and we were utterly delighted with the ease and the economy!

For funsies, I looked online for how much I could buy magnesium oil for and WOW!! $75 for a 200ml bottle!

Compare that to Fill Good's $4.50kg for magnesium flakes!
One scoop is roughly $1, truly!
Add equal parts boiling water and dissolve your magnesium and tada!
You have your magnesium oil

And now my darling, as we are enjoying lots of delicious rest and early nights, let me share what I'm doing next:

Late summer - Our bodies are nourished and strong from all the sun, outdoor time and  fresh summer fruit and veg

Early Autumn - Illnesses begin to circulate as we're inside with closed windows, moving around a little less and basking in less sun.

Winter - Immune stress peaks when we are cosy inside, and we tend to be more enclosed and exposed to sicknesses while moving our bodies less, with less sunlight.

It is not just one magic solution, but a sum of really lovely choices

It is this time of year I always start to wind back the sugar, consciously eat nutrient-dense foods (our salads and meals are choc-full of fresh herbs and veg), and lots of fruit (especially berries). I drink at least one immune boosting herbal tea a day, and spend as much time outside as I can. During the week, a morning and night stint outside is glorious. Even more on the weekend!

My routine looks like this:
February (late summer)
Week 1 - 2
- Fruit Daily
- I start broths in our food
- Herbal teas
- Start to prepare honeys, syrups and tonics
- Spike drinks with some Vit C and herbals tonics I have on hand

Week 3 to 4
- More warming meals
- Stew fruit
- Introduction of homemade tonics
- Herbals teas continue

So, shall we start and make a honey infusion?
Immune Boosting Honey Recipe

You can make one big concoction, or make a series of different flavoured honey. I love the idea of a row of little jars of honey all flavoured differently

INGREDIENTS:
Raw and the best quality honey you can find
Fill Good's Cathedral Ranges Honey is raw and still produced by the one man operation, Rob, who just turned 70 and is still going strong!

OPTIONAL ADDITIONS:
Grated fresh ginger, turmeric, pepper, onion
Garlic cloves
Cloves, cinnamon
Dried or fresh Sage, Thyme, Rosemary, Oregano
Chili

Now, all you need to do is combine any of the above (the list above is not exhaustive) and make your honey
These herbs and spices will infuse into your honey in no time!

HOW TO USE YOUR IMMUNE BOOSTING HONEY:

- Enjoy straight off the teaspoon
- Add to your herbal tea
-Drizzle on bread, yoghurt, anything!
- Add to a salad dressing

My go to salad dressing:
- 1 part any kind of vinegar
- 2 parts olive oil
- A good dash of honey

Mix these together into a jar and shake
You now have the best salad dressing of your life!

Loving ourselves up is where it starts.

Our self esteem, our stress levels and paying attention to how we are feeling is the absolute foundation of feeling good, as we fill ourselves with such goodness.

I'm so thrilled we get to do this together as we catch up in our dear sweet little shop

All our love as we share another week together
